Family Week

We are talking about families this week!

We had the opportunity to look at pictures of each fish friend's family, write a story about our favorite things to do with our family, and role play a family having a birthday party.  During this role play scenario, teachers modeled the play and language to use and the students took turns playing with one another using the language we practiced.

Some other skills we practiced:

-sorting by category/appearance and naming the category: farm animals, clothes, shapes, furniture, instruments, etc

-cutting with scissors: cutting across the paper vs cutting around shapes

-counting and learning about the number 1

-listening for the beginning sound of F and how to make a letter F

-joining play with our eagle friends during centers

-carry over of play with families in our house area and doll house

Our Eagle friends have been coming to the fish class for centers!

In our journals, we drew our families and had to tell our friends who was in our family.

Big Room Fun with Eagles!

We are continuing our senses by smelling the coffee in the sensory bin and squishing and cutting playdough. Some other centers activities included playing families in the doll house, patterning and stacking blocks, family and Mr. Potato Head sticker boards, and puzzles. We are becoming familiar with our Eagle friends and are working on joining and negotiating play.

Our letter of the week is F!  One big line down and two little lines across.

Practice listening for the /f/ sound by gluing feathers on the F.

We love playing together in gym!
