Pet Shop

 This week the Fish Room Pet Shop opened. We discussed what a pet is, how to take care of a pet, what pets needs and how to make sure they are taken care of. We also talked about what pets like to do or play. 

Fire drills are easy for us! 
"The Pet Shop" was a great book to introduce pets and what pet stores have. 





Pet Coloring Pages. 

Cutting shapes and making a shape collage and playing play dough were great practice. 

 








Big Room Fun 





PET SHOP PLAY! We acted out a pet shop experience to allow the fish friends to understand the sequence and language of how to play pet shop. There were the roles of sales person and customers. 





"Harry the Dirty Dog." We talked about the characters, the problem, and what happens at the end.  This story has a significant theory of mind piece. The students were expected to understand that Harry runs away, goes and explores the city, gets dirty, and comes home to his family not recognizing him from a white dog with black spots to a black dog with white spots. Ask your child what happens at the end of the book.

T is for Tiger. We talked about big lines and little lines and made a tiger from the letter T.



Ms. Amy's birthday was on Sunday. We welcomed her back to school with the birthday song!!!

 This week we introduced the theme "Transportation". We LOVE all  vehicles, what fun we've had! This may be our favorite theme yet!! Question of the day-"How did you get to school today?" (car, bus, SUV, bike, van, etc) Brainstorming ideas about transportation. What do the fish friends know (especially about vehicles on the road)  " ABC Drive " showed us lot of diverse vehicles and signs on the road: stop sign, dump trucks, do not enter, yield, etc Journals: What kind of car do you have at home?  Matching the correct number of blocks to the number on the truck.  Ramp designs, counting, color by number, sorting and patterning were some of the fun activities we completed. We sorted which vehicles drive on land, fly in the sky, or drive on the water. Farm week

Hello,  This week we started learning about the Farm and farm animals. We brainstormed what animals live on the farm, what they eat, who takes care of the farm and the animals. We also discussed what animals give us -eggs, milk, wool, etc.  Farm matching, fill in the blank numbers, and patterns.  Recess fun "N" is our letter this week. Centers with Puppies: Big Room with Eagles Playing the game "Go Fish"  Making chicks with paper plates, glue, yellow paint, feathers and tissue paper.  Journals: what animal would you be at the farm? Tinker Toys and Chains We looked at the farm and what animals live there.  Today we sorted through the animals, discussed what baby animals are called and grouped animals together.  Second Steps: Managing Anger Gym Time with Eagles  .  We are reading "The Little Red Hen" this week.
