Fire Safety; last day of pet shop

 Today was the last day the Fish room pet shop was open. We introduced "Fire Safety" today! We read "Firefighter" and learned what firefighters wear, how they help others, and what they do on the job! We got to try on firefighter gear from Ms. Erin's husband (fire coat, fire pants, fire boots, helmet). In our journals, we made pictures about fires and firefighters. As a class, we made a web chart about firefighters.

We read, "Clifford Goes to the Fire House."  We talked about all the ways Clifford helped the firefighters put out fires.

C is our letter this week. We talked about the big curve shape and words that begin with /c/ 



"What doesn't belong?" We had to describe which dog didn't belong by the characteristics.

 This week we introduced the theme "Transportation". We LOVE all  vehicles, what fun we've had! This may be our favorite theme yet!! Question of the day-"How did you get to school today?" (car, bus, SUV, bike, van, etc) Brainstorming ideas about transportation. What do the fish friends know (especially about vehicles on the road)  " ABC Drive " showed us lot of diverse vehicles and signs on the road: stop sign, dump trucks, do not enter, yield, etc Journals: What kind of car do you have at home?  Matching the correct number of blocks to the number on the truck.  Ramp designs, counting, color by number, sorting and patterning were some of the fun activities we completed. We sorted which vehicles drive on land, fly in the sky, or drive on the water. Farm week

Hello,  This week we started learning about the Farm and farm animals. We brainstormed what animals live on the farm, what they eat, who takes care of the farm and the animals. We also discussed what animals give us -eggs, milk, wool, etc.  Farm matching, fill in the blank numbers, and patterns.  Recess fun "N" is our letter this week. Centers with Puppies: Big Room with Eagles Playing the game "Go Fish"  Making chicks with paper plates, glue, yellow paint, feathers and tissue paper.  Journals: what animal would you be at the farm? Tinker Toys and Chains We looked at the farm and what animals live there.  Today we sorted through the animals, discussed what baby animals are called and grouped animals together.  Second Steps: Managing Anger Gym Time with Eagles  .  We are reading "The Little Red Hen" this week.
