Veteren's Day/Pancake making
The Fish room loved having veterans visit us. Taighan's Grandpa Ken and Ms. Michelle's husband, James, came for a visit. We paraded around the school and waved our flags! We also talked about their uniforms and responsibilities in the military.
Ms. Anna made pancakes with us after reading a story about how to make pancakes and brainstorming what we needed. We practiced using future tense, sequencing, and then reviewing our experience using past tense.
MUSIC:
American music and flags
"Green Eggs and Ham" We read this story and looked for rhyming words: fox/box, mouse/house, rain/train.
MONDAY AND TUESDAY:
We introduced Thanksgiving
We made turkeys, talked about Thanksgiving food, discussed what we do on Thanksgiving and how we celebrate. We also discussed manners and how to act at the table.
JOURNALS:
What is your favorite Thanksgiving food?
BIG ROOM FUN
Rice, ice cream cone math, puzzles and turkey making.
SECOND STEPS: We started talking about respectful and appropriate ways to ask for help.
1. Ask a friend if you can
2. Ask the teacher in a strong, respectful voice
We role played with our puppets and will discuss this more in a story later in the week
We practice counting turkey feathers, tracing tiny lines and cutting pictures.
HUNGRY MAN MEAL THANKSGIVING FEAST:
We tried and charted a variety of Thanksgiving foods. Some foods we liked, and some we did not. If a friend didn't want to taste a food we worked on appropriate manners of saying, "No thank you."
It looks like a winter wonderland!-Jordan
