Winter, part 1

We had a great first week! It was a fun, short couple of days!

MUSIC:
We sang and danced with Ms. Li, we loved acting like snowflakes and ocean animals!

1. Math: Making snowmen by rolling a dice and drawing parts of the snowman to match the numbers
2. Centers: letters on the light table and shaving cream snowmen!

In math we stamped the correct number of winter items to match the number.

In journals we drew what we like to do in the winter, especially what we like to do in the snow. Fish friends are expected to draw a picture related to the topic, draw a recognizable picture, and tell about the picture. Next steps are writing letters or sounds to represent words in our ideas.

We read "Winter is for Snowflakes" to introduce our winter theme.

Brainstorming ideas for winter was a fun group activity. We will be learning all about winter for the next 2 weeks.

It's a new month and year! We made a calendar to talk about upcoming events, learn the days of the week and language around a calendar activity.

Shake shake shake, today is Friday!

SHOW-N-TELL: Henry brought a timer and Jordan brought a monster truck.

ART:
We used glue and salt to make snowflakes, then tapped watercolor paints on the salt and watched it spread! It was magical! We also made Cardinal birds on birch trees. We had to glue the pieces down to make the trees and birds.

SNOWMAN MEMORY:
We played teacher and took turns describing snowmen. Our friends had to listen to us and pick which snowman we were describing. They then had to repeat back the clues (great auditory practice).

SNOW DOUGH: We followed a recipe to make snow dough to play with when our puppy friends visit.  We even added our own ingredient (glitter :)

Have a wonderful weekend!
