Doctor theme

"Going to the Doctor" was a good book introducing what doctors do and need to help us. It also set the sequence of going to the doctor such as identifying if you are sick or hurt, calling for an appointment, checking in at the receptionist, seeing the doctor, and going to the pharmacy to pick up any medication.

We brainstormed what we know about doctors and medical emergencies.

The question of the day was "Have you Ever Been Sick or Hurt?"

JOURNALS:
Mystery box- we had to listen and guess what was in our box for journals then we drew a picture of what we thought was in the box by how it sounded and felt.

It was a stethoscope!!! Oh the suspense!

DOCTOR KIT:
We looked at a variety of doctor tools and how they are used by doctors.

"What Doesn't Belong?" We practiced identifying the object that didn't fit with the others and told why.
GYM TIME

CREATION STATION: We are getting in the valentines spirit by making hearts and gifts for one another.

"Dr. DeSoto" book: this book has a lot of theory of mind. It is about a mouse who is a dentist and has to make some tough decisions about helping a fox with a rotten tooth. Ask your child what happens.

TUESDAY:
Morning matching community helpers game
Second Steps: Caring and helping others with our puppets Jack and Julia

 Caterpillar names and heart art!

We love playdough!

After the book "Going to the Doctor", we opened our doctors office. We brainstormed the steps of calling the doctor, making an appointment, speaking with the receptionist and signing in, waiting in the waiting room and then seeing the nurse and doctor. We discussed different things that could be wrong with us, maybe a sore throat, a broken bone or a stomachache.
We took turns being the patient, doctor and receptionist.

We went to centers with the eagle friends and got to use our previous knowledge of winter and the Arctic to explore different activities.

Sun, snow, and ice!!! We love winter!
