Halloween!

 This week's theme is "Halloween". We brainstormed and discussed costumes, what happens on Halloween night, we discussed pumpkins and jack-o-lanterns and all the spooky things!  Jordan and Henry worked really hard on the ABC puzzle.  JOURNALS: What is your costume? We drew our costumes and told about our drawings. We saw Superman, Spiderman, a lizard, witch, and chef. "What is missing?" We had to use our eyes and brains to make sure we knew what was missing from the row. This practiced our vocabulary for the week. Eagle fun at centers and in the big room! Letter "E" Pumpkin thumb math book: We used our thumbs to make pumpkins on the page to match the number. This practiced number identification and one-to-one counting. Pumpkins weekly summary

 This week we introduced pumpkins. Fish friends cut out numbers 1-5 and glued them by the correct number of pumpkins, circled which picture was different then the others, and slowly traced lines from the boy to the pumpkin.  "5 Little Pumpkins sitting on a gate" was a video with rhyming words and feelings.  PUMPKIN CARVING: We brainstormed parts of a pumpkin, what shapes we should carve in the pumpkin for the face and brainstormed words to describe the pumpkin: hard, soft, slimy, squishy, gooey, bumpy, etc.  We also created a past tense book talking about what we did to carve the pumpkin.    "P" is for pig.  We built a Jack-o-lantern. "Have you ever seen a pumpkin, a pumpkin, a pumpkin...."  " Big Pumpkin " was fun to act out!  She pulled and she tugged....
